We are training the Leaders of tomorrow.
Currently, a lot of students choose to do a Diploma of Leadership and Management. The course is very popular. At Lexis Training we are training the Leaders of tomorrow. Having a qualification in Leadership and Management is nice, but how do we define a leader and what exactly does it take to be a good leader?
Today, we live in a fast-paced, technology-driven world and leaders must be as comfortable in the workplace as they are in an online environment. The inevitable traits of a leader are “respect”, “learning”, “example”.
A leader will respect their co-workers and the company they work for. They do not care about being popular, instead they lift people to ensure the work is done and the tasks achieved. They work within their team and support them when difficult situations arise.
They are good communicators and adapt to situations easily. They work with the many changes of an industry, a company or its people. They never stop learning…
As per the Harvard Business review “Effective leaders take a personal interest in the long-term development of their employees, and they use tact and other social skills to encourage employees to achieve their best. It isn’t about being “nice” or “understanding”—it’s about tapping into individual motivations in the interest of furthering an organisation wide goal. by W.C.H. Prentice”
The Diploma of Leadership and Management is called as such as leaders must have management skills. Management means being able to plan, measure, hire, fire, and monitor. A leader empowers and influences others to maximise efforts to achieve a specific task.
As per HubSpot there are 11 types of leadership styles. This goes from democratic leadership to visionary leadership and other leaderships such as pacesetting, autocratic, bureaucratic, and laissez-faire. Your style will depend on your personality and the type of business you are working for.
In the Diploma of Leadership and Management at Lexis Training you will learn about:
- Communicating with influence
- Managing people performance
- Managing risk in the workplace and developing systems for more effective processes
You will also learn about emotional intelligence and customer service, skills that are very valuable in a world such as today.
